Snack brands reformulate products as demand for natural ingredients rises

Major snack manufacturers are removing artificial colourings like Red No. 40 and Yellow No. 6 in response to growing consumer demand for cleaner ingredients. PepsiCo’s newly launched Simply Ruffles Hot & Spicy crisps, which contain no artificial colours or flavours, reflect this shift.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently banned Red No. 3 in food and ingested drugs over health concerns, prompting wider industry changes. Brands including Kellogg’s, Heinz, and General Mills are also reformulating products to align with consumer preferences for natural ingredients.
