Danfoss and Microsoft enhance AI-driven sustainability in food retail

Danfoss and Microsoft have strengthened their strategic partnership, originally formed in 2019, to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud-based solutions in the food sector. The collaboration is focused on optimising energy use, reducing food waste, and lowering emissions across the industry.

A key product of the alliance is Danfoss Alsense, a cloud-based monitoring platform designed explicitly for grocery retailers. Alsense provides real-time 24/7 monitoring of refrigeration systems, allowing businesses to minimise downtime, enhance operational performance, and cut costs. The platform helps detect potential system failures before they occur, reducing waste and improving efficiency in food stores.

The collaboration aims to make sustainable technologies more accessible for food retailers, remove barriers to entry, and help businesses meet climate goals. By integrating Microsoft’s AI capabilities, Alsense will become smarter and more effective in helping businesses optimise their refrigeration systems.

The partnership reflects a growing trend toward leveraging AI and cloud technology in the food sector to drive sustainable practices. The expanded collaboration underscores Danfoss and Microsoft’s commitment to fostering a low-carbon future and supporting the industry’s transition to more environmentally friendly operations.
