Coca-Cola is launching Simply Pop, a prebiotic soda aimed at tapping into the growing market for gut-health beverages. The product will debut later this month on the U.S. West Coast, in the Southeast, and online via Amazon Fresh, with nationwide expansion planned for 2025.
The drink contains six grams of prebiotic fiber, along with vitamin C and zinc for immune support. It will be available in five flavors: strawberry, pineapple, mango, fruit punch, and citrus punch.
The prebiotic soda market has gained traction, with brands like Olipop and Poppi leading the trend. Industry research projects the sector will reach $27.4 billion by 2032. Olipop, founded in 2018, recently hit a $1.85 billion valuation. However, consumer claims about gut-health benefits remain under scrutiny. Poppi is currently in settlement talks over a lawsuit alleging misleading health claims, according to CNBC.
Coca-Cola sees an opportunity to attract Gen Z and Millennial consumers interested in functional beverages from established brands.
