Free webinar explores high risk / low risk barrier management in food production

On 5 March 2025, Teknomek will be hosting a FREE Expert Partner Webinar for customers and colleagues operating in the food production and processing sectors.

Presented by returning expert Nic Sharman, the 45 minute webinar will focus on barrier management between high and low risk hygienic zones, identifying gaps that can put operations at risk and how to optimise factory flow.

Starting at 10am and finishing at 10.45am, including time for questions, the live event has been designed for food and beverage businesses of all sizes that are looking to improve their barrier management between hygienic zones.

Areas to be covered in the webinar will include:

  • definitions and differences between ‘High Care’ and ‘High Risk’ zones
  • barrier requirements listed by the BRCGS
  • how to optimise factory flows to reduce the risk of cross-contamination
  • how to identify potential gaps within the barriers and manage them effectively
  • changing procedure needed for maintaining high risk areas
  • efficient management of footwear to minimise bacterial growth
  • drainage requirements for hygienic environments.

Webinar host Nic Sharman has 30 years’ practical experience in the food industry, across manufacturing, catering, and retail. During her time at Marks & Spencer as a food safety manager, Nic was responsible for developing manufacturing standards, food safety protocols and integrity audits.

She has global experience as a food safety and integrity auditor across all food and beverage categories. Nic established Nic Sharman Consultancy Ltd in 2020 and Cibus Solutions Ltd in 2023, conducting audits for retailers or manufacturer supply chains in the food and beverage industry.

Michelle Locke, product and marketing manager at Teknomek, said: “Creating and maintaining a protective barrier between high-care/high-risk areas and low-risk areas is critical in food production.

“Whilst robust controls are essential, food manufacturing professionals should not underestimate the role of people, ingredients and furniture in managing food safety risks.  Teknomek is committed to providing customers with everything they need to remain audit ready, every day and this doesn’t just mean supplying hygienic furniture and equipment.

“We invited Nic Sharman to deliver this webinar because she’s one of our industry’s leading experts in this area and will provide participants with information and advice that offers genuine value.”

The Teknomek webinar is free to attend but places are limited. Places can be booked here.
