i2r secures exclusive sole supply agreement with Greencore

Market-leading UK aluminium foil tray manufacturer, i2r Packaging Solutions, has announced that it has secured an exclusive supply agreement with foods producer, Greencore.

As a leading international manufacturer of convenience foods, primarily operating in the UK and Ireland, Greencore specialises in producing a wide range of chilled, ambient and frozen products, which are supplied to major retailers and foodservice outlets. i2r has supplied Greencore with its smoothwall aluminium products for several years. This new deal expands the relationship, with i2r set to also supply its wrinklewall containers.

Commenting on the agreement, Greencore’s Scott Merchant, said: “i2r is renowned for being a leader in innovation, which is one of the key reasons we selected them as the sole supplier of our aluminium packaging. We also highly value their partnership approach to working with suppliers and the advantages that come from their extensive group infrastructure, including owning a European-based rolling mill and lacquering plant. This offers us flexibility, excellent product development opportunities and significant purchasing benefits.”

Tom Cliffe, i2r’s head of sales, said: “As a business, we are entering an exciting new phase with new product launches and significant investments in key areas to support our growth, driven by productive relationships like the one we have with Greencore. We look forward to serving them in this expanded capacity and continuing the strong relationship we have built over the years.”

A holder of two Queen’s Awards for Enterprise and a recent winner of the Foodservice Packaging Association (FPA) Design Team Award, i2r is Europe’s largest aluminium tray producer. Manufacturing over 1.2 billion products annually, it supplies many major food producers and retail brands, as well as wholesaler and distributor markets worldwide.
