Independent tonic and mixer brand, Double Dutch, has been certified as a B Corporation upon its first application submission.
The only major mixer brand to receive the certification, the twin-founded Double Dutch now stands among the 120 B Corp certified beverage businesses in the UK, highlighting the core values that have been integral to the brand since its inception.
With a commitment to sustainability and social responsibility the brand has received this prestigious certification this week, achieving an overall B Corp score of 86.9, surpassing the current median score of 50.9 points for businesses that undergo the assessment.
“As founders, sustainability has always been at the heart of our business philosophy. We are immensely proud to lead the way and this recognition reflects our commitment to sustainability & highlights our role as a catalyst for positive change within our industry. Through the process, we have gained valuable insights and are dedicated to upholding these high standards for the future,” said Raissa and Joyce de Haas, the visionary twins behind Double Dutch.
They also commented: “There are now over 120 drinks brands that have achieved B Corp certification in the UK, and we’re really pleased to be joining this community of global businesses meeting high standards of social and environmental impact.
“This is also brilliant for the hospitality sector as it signposts hospitality brands & venues to the suppliers that are doing business well. We hope that together with the other brilliant beverage brands that have been awarded this prestigious status, we can help the industry to make easy and sustainable choices with a great range of high-quality products without compromise.”
Double Dutch is now stocked in 46 countries around the globe and is the exclusive tonic used at Soho House in the UK.
The certification is awarded by B Lab, a non-profit network that ‘strives to transform the global economy to benefit people, communities and the planet’, and is awarded to companies that meet its standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
To get its B Corp designation, Double Dutch had to meet or pass certain levels of social impact between its environmental impact and corporate governance, as well as with its employees, customers, and the drinks community as a whole.
